Overvoltage refers to any voltage whose peak value is greater than the corresponding peak value of the maximum steady state voltage under normal operation. In engineering, it refers to all dangerous voltages that can cause damage to equipment. Therefore, in the project, some overvoltages that are larger than the normal operating voltage of the equipment but insufficient to endanger the normal operation of the equipment are excluded. Overvoltages include:
(1) Transient overvoltage, with a duration of milliseconds or less, is the main protection object of the arrester.
(2) Transient overvoltage or short-time overvoltage, the duration is relatively long, generally between 0.1s and 1s.
