Silicon Controlled Rectifier is short for silicon controlled rectifier. SCRs are available in one-way, two-way, turn-off, and light control types. It has the advantages of small size, light weight, high efficiency, long life, easy control, etc. It is widely used in occasions such as controllable rectification, voltage regulation, inverter, and non-contact switches and other automatic control and high-power electric energy conversion.
One-way thyristor is a kind of controlled rectifier electronic component. It can be turned off and turned on under the action of an external control signal. However, once it is turned on, the external signal cannot be turned off and can only be removed or reduced. The voltage across it turns off. One-way thyristor is a four-layer three-terminal semiconductor device consisting of three PN junctions PNPN. Compared with a diode with one PN junction, one-way thyristor forward conduction is controlled by the gate current; it has two PN junctions. The difference between the triodes is that the thyristors have no amplification effect on the gate current.
SCR conduction conditions: First, a positive voltage must be applied between the thyristor anode and cathode, and second, a positive voltage must be applied to the control electrode. The above two conditions must be available at the same time, and the SCR will be in the conduction state. In addition, once the thyristor is turned on, the SCR is still turned on even if the gate voltage is reduced or the gate voltage is removed. SCR Shutdown Condition: Reduce or remove the forward voltage applied across the thyristor anode to the cathode so that the anode current is less than the minimum sustain current.
